    Design history

B&B Italia was established in 1966, through the vision of Piero Ambrogio Busnelli, and began as C&B, a joint venture between Cassina and Busnelli. One of its foundation projects, Coronado by Afra and Tobia Scarpa, paired an iron frame with cold-moulded polyurethane foam, a technology the company introduced to furniture. In 1969 Gaetano Pesce's UP Series armchair was designed to be shipped vacuum-packed.

Charles, designed by Antonio Citterio in 1997, can be configured as a two- or three-seater, a chaise longue sofa or a corner sofa, in fabric or leather. Mario Bellini's Camaleonda sofa system is also produced in special editions, such as Camaleonda x Stella McCartney in Stella McCartney's S-Wave fabric.
