A family company from Brianza
Flexform's story began in 1959 in Brianza, the area between Milan, Como and Lecco that became Italy's most important furniture-making district. It became a joint-stock company in 1967 and, in the 1960s, worked with Joe Colombo, Cini Boeri and Rodolfo Bonetto. Today it is led by the third generation of its founding family.
Flexform has one production site, in Meda. Its cabinetmakers, upholsterers, foundries and finishing workshops are concentrated within a few kilometres, which Flexform says makes it easier to oversee quality.
Antonio Citterio, Groundpiece and Quincy
Flexform's collaboration with Antonio Citterio, who was born in Meda in 1950 and opened his studio in 1972, began in the 1970s and is the longest-standing creative partnership in the company's history.
- Groundpiece (2001): a low, deep sectional sofa with goose-down cushions. Its armrest can be padded and upholstered, or a cowhide-clad metal console with shelves for books and objects.
- Quincy (2026): a curved seating system with a one-piece shell that holds down-filled seat cushions, including a chaise longue element.
- Moka: designed in 1939 by Mario Asnago and Claudio Vender and brought back into production by Flexform in 1985.
Indoor and outdoor collections
The indoor collection covers sofas, armchairs, ottomans, dining chairs, stools, chaises longues, tables, coffee and side tables, bookshelves and cabinets, sofa beds and beds. Many sofas come as sectional or stand-alone models, and upholstery is removable on models such as Groundpiece and Quincy.
Since 2019 Flexform has had a permanent outdoor collection of sofas, armchairs, daybeds, dining chairs and tables, arranged by Flexform into lounge, pool-side and al fresco dining settings.
Materials and longevity
- Down: the goose down used in Flexform cushioning carries Assopiuma's Gold Label certification. Flexform also offers non-animal alternatives.
- Durability: wood, marble, metal, leather and fabrics are chosen to withstand everyday use; Flexform calls longevity the cardinal form of sustainability.
- End of life: in more recent products, particularly outdoors, components are designed to be disassembled and separated.
- Reporting: Flexform publishes an annual Sustainability Report, the first prepared with the PwC network.
