Ilary side tables by Jean-Marie Massaud

Poltrona Frau describes Ilary as three collections in one: a system of five side tables of different heights, shapes and constructions, by the designer Jean-Marie Massaud, combining finishes and materials in different ways.

• Ilary monolithic table: entirely sculpted from marble with a semi-gloss finish, with a circular top and a carved, handle-like support that makes it easy to move. The two parts are joined by a concealed steel structure.
• Marbles: semi-polished Calacatta, Arabescato Venato, Fior di Pesco, Bianco Carrara and Ombra di Caravaggio.
• Use: beside a reading chair, sofa or chaise longue at home, and in hospitality suites, lounges and executive offices.

Fior di Pesco and Poltrona Frau's marbles

The Ilary at Faura is in Fior di Pesco, a marble from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of Italy that Poltrona Frau describes as ranging from white to grey and soft pink, with interwoven, sinuous veins. Its other marbles include Calacatta, Calacatta Oro and Arabescato Venato from the Apuan Alps, Bianco Carrara, Spanish Nero Marquinia and Ombra di Caravaggio, a dark stone of Serbian origin.

Pelle Frau® leather

Leather has been Poltrona Frau's core material since 1912. Its Pelle Frau® Research and Development Centre defines the technical parameters of every Pelle Frau® leather for the company's three business units, and since 1986 a test laboratory in Tolentino has checked upholstery and seats for strength and durability.

Pelle Frau® ColorSphere Impact Less is a chrome-free tanned leather that, according to Poltrona Frau, uses 15% fewer chemicals and 10% less water, with 10% lower CO₂ emissions in tanning.

From Turin to Tolentino

Renzo Frau, born in Cagliari in 1881, discovered Chesterfield armchairs while working in Britain and began importing them into Italy before setting up his own artisan workshop in Turin in 1912. The company moved to Tolentino in the 1960s, expanded into automotive and contract work in the 1980s, formed the Poltrona Frau Group with Cassina and Cappellini in 2004, and has belonged to Haworth since 2014.
